The Ad Astral Story

Ad Astral has been operating out of Perth airport for over 27 years in both air charter services and advanced flight training. We are a small business with a small yet dedicated group of pilots and individuals who believe in nothing but the best in safety, service and professional flight training.

Captain Ron Magrath is the Owner and Managing Director and flies our aircraft as Pilot-in-Command and conducts check and training together with aircraft type ratings for Company aircrew.

A pilot since 1963, Ron flew fighter aircraft with the Royal Australian Air Force together with extensive instructional duties over a 24 year period. During his military career he was awarded the Air Force Cross and the Queen's Commendation for Service in the Air.

Ron purchased Ad Astral in 1986 and has conducted charter services and advanced flying training since that time. His civil qualifications include an Air Transport Pilot Licence with a Grade One Instructor Rating and he acts as an Approved Testing Officer (ATO) on behalf of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority for most pilot ratings.

In civil aviation Ron has been the Convener for the Regional Airspace Planning Advisory Committee RAPAC (WA) for 13 years, a member of the Airspace Working Group for 3 years and was a foundation member, at the invitation of the Minister for Transport, of the Aviation Safety Forum for 3 years.

Under Ron's leadership, Ad Astral Aviation’s commitment to absolute safety and operational excellence is unconditional.
